I am not sure if I can count this as a “training run” or not. The way I see it, is that when I run with my dogs it is a much tougher workout.
I have two siberian huskies that are still very young at heart. (one is 10 and the other is 7). When we start our runs, they are constantly pulling ahead and zag from side to side. What does this do to my running form? It completely destroys it. Plus, running forward while pulling back on two leashes is a challenge all it’s own.
And then the stop and go, I feel like I am doing fartleks. Let’s just say the dogs like to STOP! and smell the flowers, and the tree trunks, and the grass, and the curbs, and anything else they deem necessary.
This lasts about 10 to 12 minutes, then all of a sudden I am dragging them. My arms are now behind my body as I coach and motivate them along. Once we get home, they sleep. They sleep a lot.
So today may not have been the best “training run” and I don’t even think we covered 2 miles. But it sure was fun! and that’s what this is all about for me.
