Training Log – 06/21/08
Run: 16 miles
Avg Pace: 9:42
Went out for a 14 mile run with runners edge of the rockies (A great training group). The run started real nice and smooth. It is the beginning of the summer marathon training program so there were many new faces and great people that I had the opportunity to run with.
My training schedule had me down for a 14 mile, slower paced, training run. Average pace was supposed to be around 9:40/mile in preperation for a fall 3:59.99999 marathon. (That’s right, I am going to break that 4 hour marathon mark.) My current PR is 4:00:47 in NYC 2007.
Anyway, the run turned out to be a beautiful course in Littleton Colorado. The weather was great and my legs felt fresh. I ended up running 16 miles because that is what the group I was with was doing. On an out and back course, deciding to run two miles less than the rest of the group means yo run the second half alone. So, I opted to do the full 16.
Reflections: A great run with a great group of people. Stopping at the water coolers, while is good for re-hydration adds a little extra stress to the legs in the final few miles. Still love my new shoes.
